Denise Mackerell Tuckett was born on October 13, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alvin and Elma Mackerell. Denise passed away on December 13, 2024 with her loving husband and devoted daughter by her side.
Denise married the love of her life, Steven Tuckett, on September 19, 1975. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and shared adventures. She was a devoted mother to daughter Amber, son Brandon and loving canine Rocky. Denise loved her two grandchildren Makayla and Logan, and recently met her great-granddaughter Paisley. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother to her grand-dogs Chewy, Remy and Rex. Her bond with Chewy was special, she lovingly referred to him as her “Chewy baby.” Remy and Rex became her constant companions the last few years, rarely leaving her side.
Denise had a deep appreciation and love for her family, nature and adventure. She spent many summers camping, boating, and exploring National Parks with family. Denise enjoyed boating at Starvation, Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell. She especially loved riding her Sea-Doo. Bryce Canyon National Park was her favorite and held a special place in her heart. She walked Chewy along the trail to Sunrise Point where a chipmunk ran across the trail, startling Chewy, who looked back at his grandma with a ‘did you just see that’ look on his face.
Her love for travel extended beyond the parks. Denise enjoyed cruising to breathtaking destinations such as the Western Caribbean, where she swam with dolphins and stingrays; the Eastern Caribbean, where she parasailed in St. Thomas; and Alaska, where she marveled at glaciers, saw baby bears, watched whales, and witnessed an unforgettable dolphin stampede.
Denise’s warmth, adventurous spirit, and devotion to her loved ones will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her family which includes husband Steven, daughter Amber, son Brandon
(Jamie), and brother Richard (Christine) Robbins Mackerell. Preceded in death by her parents and sister Sondra Ann Mackerell Powell.
Denise, we love you so much, and look forward to the time when we will be together again.
A special thanks to Emily and Deloris who provided loving care in Denise’s final days.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
