Allen Richard Cook, age 66, passed away February 19, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by his family. He was born January 22, 1954 in Dallas, Texas to Allen Woodrow Cook and Donna June Jones Cook. He graduated from Denton High School, Denton, Texas in 1972 and later graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas and Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas. Sandra Jo Josie was the love of his life and constant support. They married in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 2, 2010.
Allen dedicated more than 20 years of his life in the service of his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Army as a Sergeant Major. Throughout his military career he was a Drill Sergeant, Tank Commander and was decorated with numerous medals, badges and ribbons. He had a talent for learning and fluently speaking 7 languages.
He was loved by everyone and was always there to help those in need with their challenges and problems or anything that was needed. He always had open arms and ears to anyone. He could do math in his head with no problem. Allen had OCD and everything had a place and he would let you know if you had misplaced an item.
Allen is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Sandra Jo; daughter, Katharina Gonzalez; step-daughter, Jennifer Ingledew and step-son, Jonathan Ingledew; sister, Janelle Cook-Mason; sisters-in-law: Janet (Steve) Clark, Annette (Gary) Cox, Joni (Scott) McAfee and Patsy Green; nephew, Daniel (Kerri) Cook; great nieces, Haley Cook (Jonathan Szilva) and Addison Cook; great great nephew, Grayson Szilva and mother-in-law, Gwen Josie. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, grandparents and brother-in-law, Glen Mason.
Urnside services will be Wednesday, March 25, 2020, 2:00 pm at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah. Online condolences may be offered at www.valleyviewfh.com
