Mr. William Bill S. Piskothy

Mr. Piskothy is survived by his wife Nancy (nee Stephan); children Corinne (James) Kaufmann, William Scott (Elizabeth) Piskothy and Robert (Tara) Piskothy; grandchildren Ryan Kaufmann, Steven Kaufmann, Lauren Piskothy, Jenna Piskothy, Nicolas Piskothy, & Ryker Piskothy. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Elsie Piskothy and his brother Frank Piskothy.

Mr. Piskothy was born on May 12,1944, and raised in Queens. After high school, he served in the Air Force and was stationed in King Salmon, Alaska as a Radar Operator during the Cuban missile crisis. He was a talented baseball player who once tried out for the NY Mets. He landed a spot on their AAA team; however, his baseball career was cut short by an injury. He and his wife Nancy married in 1965, lived in Queens, and eventually settled in Mount Sinai, where they lived and raised their family. While living in Long Island, Mr. Piskothy worked as an auto salesman and leasing manager, where he was known as Bill Cody or Cody because his last name was so difficult to pronounce.

After moving to Elma in 2006, Mr. Piskothy enjoyed his retirement job driving a school bus for Iroquois Central Schools.

Mr. Piskothy had many hobbies throughout his life. He was a lifetime bowler and participated in numerous leagues. He loved playing euchre and other card games. In Long Island, he was an active member of the Moose Lodge. During his mid-40’s, Mr. Piskothy held a private pilot license and enjoyed flying single engine planes. His greatest passion was golf. He loved to play with his family and friends as often as time allowed.

He was a regular fan at his grandchildren’s sporting events. In 1986, Mr. Piskothy began what became the annual family tradition of vacationing at Orange Lake Resort in Orlando, Fla.

He was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan and was known for making New York-style pizza with his homemade tomato sauce during games.

During his lifetime, Mr. Piskothy owned three West Highland White Terriers and is survived by his furry and faithful companion, Riley.

Visitation will be on Thurs., May 19, 4 -8 p.m., at the Hoy Funeral Home, 3855 Seneca Street, West Seneca, where a memorial service will be held Fri., May 20 at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be at Woodlawn cemetery immediately the service. Friends are invited.
