Thomas H. Fleming, age 81 of Palm Beach, FL and Newport, Rhode Island passed away unexpectedly In a boating accident on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Tom was born in Greenfield, MA on September 18, 1933. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving In the US Army topographical service. He was stationed in Papua and New Guinea in the South Pacific, conducting survey and topographical work. Tom was a surveyor by trade and later became a home builder and real estate developer. He was an avid yachtsmen and a member of the Palm Beach Yacht Club and the Goat Island Yacht Club in Newport RI. His other memberships and affiliations were the Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach, The LeClub International of Palm Beach, Governor of the Rhode Island Who’s Who, President of the Southeastern Massachusetts Home Builder’s Association and life member of the Ice Cream Club of America. He was a devoted tennis player and a member of the Phipps Ocean Park Tennis Center. Tom cherished spending time with his grandchildren and never missed a family celebration, school performance, or sporting event. He is survived by his son; Thomas P. Fleming, daughter; Tami E. (Chris) Holden and five grandchildren, Daisy, Eliza, Georgie, Anna Ming and Jee. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 at St. Edwards Church, 144 North County Rd., Palm Beach on Saturday, May 9, 2015.
