Kathy Hoffman Heyman passed away October 11, 2024 at age 74 at her home in West Palm Beach. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband John, her daughters Melissa Hoffman Beckman (Robert) of Wilmington, North Carolina and Erin Hoffman Grimes (Robert) of Austin, Texas, her grandchildren Allyson, Amanda and Emily Beckman and Robin Grimes, and her stepchildren Mallory Shear-Heyman and Brett-Shear Heyman (Michael Swan).
Kathy attended the University of Iowa and received her graduate business degree from Simmons College. She went on to have a more than 30 year career in private banking in Philadelphia, Boston, and Palm Beach with PNC, BankBoston, Fleet, Bank of America and Huntington National Bank. While with BankBoston in Palm Beach Kathy served on the board of the Palm Beach Zoo and was an advisor to the Community Redevelopment Agency of West Palm Beach.
Kathy enjoyed playing golf, and especially enjoyed and was skilled at cooking, baking, sewing and quilting, as revealed by her screen name which was an abbreviation of “Susie homemaker.” She also enjoyed watching college football and in particular was a fan of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes and the Florida State University Seminoles.
Kathy also enjoyed traveling and during her lifetime saw much of Great Britian, Europe and the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Egypt, South Africa, the South Pacific, Australia and Southeast Asia.
A memorial service followed by a celebration of life will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 3 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 5411 Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach, Florida 33417. Phone 561-832-5171. A private burial in Wilmington, North Carolina is planned.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Kathy’s memory to support early medical education mentoring programs at the Cleveland Clinic Florida Weston Hospital.
