Father Joseph E. Mader was born on May 27, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Sylvester G. and Marie (Koesters) Mader. He died in the Lord on August 23, 2021.
Father Joseph was ordained into the priesthood on May 7, 1967, by Archbishop Paul Schulte at St. Meinrad. His first Mass took place at St. Michael the Archangel, Indianapolis.
Fr. Joe retired early for health reasons and moved to Florida. In 1999 he was granted early retirement. Since 2000 he was in residence at St. Edward Parish in Palm Beach, where he ministered to its parishioners till May of 2017. For health reasons, Fr. Joe then moved to a nursing facility.
