A true Floridian, Dan was born in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1941 to William G. Lassiter, Sr. and Avalou Woodham Lassiter, and was the youngest brother to Bill Jr., Bruce, Jack, and Mary Ann. He attended Palmetto Elementary, Conniston Junior High School, and graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1959. After graduating from Auburn University in 1963 with a degree in Building Construction, Dan worked in Nashville, Montgomery, and Knoxville before returning to West Palm Beach to work for his father in 1968. He started Lassiter Construction Co. several years later, and built numerous public works, schools, and commercial buildings. Dan served as president of the Associated General Contractors of America, president of the African Safari Club, and was an active member of Mayacoo Lakes Country Club for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in downtown West Palm Beach since 1955. In 1992, Dan retired from the construction business. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying retirement in the Bahamas, at his hunting camp, and attending Auburn football games. He loved Jesus, his wife Vickie, his daughters Leigh (Tom), Lynda, and Dani (Russ), his grandchildren Tommy, Ben, Nicolas (predeceased), Emma, Anna Leigh, Addi, and Piper, and his numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, 4-8 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Center, Hillcrest Memorial Park, 6411 Parker Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33405.
