So, Janet or as Dad says "9-5", provided a structured, safe, healthy and clean environment, which Dad sometimes liked and at times not, being stubborn with her strictness. She meet his match...paybacks! Bernard was the evening person,  whom brought dancing,  singing and game playing in order to get things accomplished. Dad grew   dependent of them, enjoyed being cared for,  loved their company.  They all laughed, joked, Dad told them stories (they believed, haha), ate together, celebrated holidays, birthdays, special occasions.  We all became family!! Jim was the clue that kept it all together at the homefront. The rest of us did our part from afar and visited often. Dad loved his family, their visits, their individual gifts, their laughter, their chaos, noise, ears to hear him talk, he required constant attention with a vivid imagination!
 He was handful, beloved by all.
Dad decided on his care, on decisions along the way,  and we were able to provide that, thur his planning, seems like from birth. The VA played a large role in keeping him home, with The Primary Based Home Care Program, seeing Dad in the home. A team of providers were in and out frequently, he loves the attention and of course a new ear for his stories . He was loved, well cared for, visited by many, family, friends, neighbors until his last days. 
His end was beautiful with family at his side, comforted and watched over by the excellent "Vitas" hospice staff, whom guided us every step of the way, until the peace of the Lord, Jesus Christ took him from this earth to the heavens above. The door was open, with thunder, lightning and rain, his favorite weather, he was ready. 
Dad leaves behind his legacy of family, his children,  his beloved wife, his service work, humanitarian, a proud man, who I have had the pleasure of caring for, through his wishes until the end.
I love you "Cutie", Dad, until we meet again, rest in peace! Trish


My Dad! Quite the character, proud independent man, jokster, story teller, a true people person. Loved his wife, loves his children, loved serving humanity. 
I called him "cutie", because he got cuter with age, especially when he didnt wear dentures, or hearing aids, then at 93  he did not want to fix his glasses. We bonded between 80-93yrs old, when he required more assistance to get around
 But he didn't think so!  He was stubborn,  didnt want help, fired multiple caregivers ,one he couldn't understand, one was "stinky", one was lazy, one was mean, we went through many, until we found our "A" team in Janet and Bernard
 They were perfect and bonded with Dad and took over helping with Mom. Dad became accustom to them, and ended up enjoying their service, loved being cared for, felt safe, and they became part of the family.
Dad never complained about how he physically felt, would not complain of pain, woke up happy, smiley, happy for another day. He spend time with his wife, eating meals together, often sitting outside waving at whomever walked by, talking to anyone who listened and when there was no one, he sang to the birds and claimed he had a vivid imagination, which he acquired being an only child.

Dad always give great hugs and he was such a great dancer we had many nights at my house dancing in the living room and he always tried to teach me how to dance I think he finally gave up because his feet hurt from me stepping on them so he always went back to mom

He is survived by his wonderful wife of 66 years, Marguerite Arendell, “Peggy”.


He is also survived by his daughters:

Patricia Ann Head,
Sandra Marie Abrego


His sons:
James Daniel Arendell,
Scott Joseph Arendell,
William Horton Vidor


and all their significant others, Fred Mullins, John Schroll, Eric Head, Jerry Abrego, Jill Arendell, and Kim Vidor.


He also left behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, cousins, and
many beloved friends and extended family
