Born on May 31, 1921, Helen was raised in Conshohocken, PA. She married her high school sweetheart, Vincent, in 1945. They lived in Augusta, GA and Lake Placid, N.Y., eventually settling in West Palm Beach in the 1950s. Here, Helen served as a full-time homemaker, PTA volunteer and enthusiastic motivator of her three children.
Helen then took on a new role as a valued employee of Burdine’s department store. She also enjoyed more time for bridge, golf and travel with Vince until his death in 1998 after 54 years of marriage. She continued to stay involved in the community participating in activities at the Polish-American Club, Mary Immaculate and St. Ann’s Catholic Churches and her Cypress Lakes subdivision, as well as relishing frequent visits with friends and family.
Late in life she suffered from severe memory loss, but still managed to enjoy activities at her assisted living facility in the Atlanta area. She was renowned as a ruthless bingo competitor and was crowned “Polka Queen” after dancing up a storm with local volunteers.
Helen is survived by her son, Vincent (Lisa) of Fort Collins, CO, two daughters, Suzanne Dann (James) of Fairfax, VA and Chris Jones (Bobby) of Savannah, GA, four grandchildren and a vast array of family and friends.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 4th at 10:30am at Mary Immaculate Church, followed by interment at Queen of Peace Cemetery. Virtual streaming will be available.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cardinal Newman High School.
