Greta Nancy Erlandson (Orr) was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 22, 1935 to Alfred Erlandson and Ella Steffensen and went home to be with her Heavenly Savior on January 15, 2019. She grew up on Flatbush Avenue and attended PS 193 School. She was baptized, confirmed and worshipped at Good Shepard Lutheran Church and graduated from Midwood High School. Nancy, as now she preferred to be called, took a job as a legal secretary in Manhattan. She commuted via subway and enjoyed lunch at an Automat when that rare opportunity arose and she could afford it. She met Donald E. Kino, Sr. and they were married in 1959, settled in Northport, New York and she brought two sons into the world. She was active in St. Paul Lutheran Church. Nancy relocated to Florida in 1969 and once again worked as a legal secretary in downtown West Palm Beach at the Harvey Building. Always honoring her parents’ Scandinavian heritage, she was active in the Sons of Norway and worshipped at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lake Worth. She was introduced by her cousin Mona to Nathaniel Orr and they were married in 1973. Nancy created and operated the Small World and Palm Beach Day pre-schools that were quite successful. She joined Nat as a member of First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach (Family Church) where she was active in Women on Mission and supported children of missionaries establishing the Orr Family Scholarship Fund at Palm Beach Atlantic University. She often adopted the University’s students as her own, making them feel at home when they were far from theirs. Upon his passing, she retired to Riverwalk Community where she enjoyed life with her cats and friends but never stopped preparing and delivering home cooked meals and her famous cookies. Nancy truly left a legacy of what a servant’s heart looks like.
Nancy was predeceased in death by her loving husband Nathaniel Jordan Orr. She is survived by her two sons, Donald E. Kino Jr. (Mindy) and their sons, Alexander and Grant, and Gregory S. Kino and his children, Tucker and Lily. She also leaves behind her brother, Roy Erlandson (Wendy) and their children, Todd Erlandson (Sherry) and their children, Francis and Jake, Jennifer Ayers (Michael) and their children, Peter, Matthew, Lindsay and Sarah, Daniel Erlandson (Christine) and their son, Ian and her cousin, Mona Gartrell. Nancy loved her late husband’s children as her own, which include Lee Orr, Susan Rose, her children Ian, Jason and Shilo, Elaine Clark (Herman) and their children, Nathan, Jacob, and Gary Orr. She also leaves behind many special friends, including Linda Kelso, Jean O’Brien and Alondra, Alex and Tony Villa.
