Elaine Campbell of Boynton Beach died in Hospice care on October 2, 2023, after along illness. Elaine was born January 31, 1945, St. Thomas Parish, Jamaica. WI, the daughter of James Samuel Campbell and Myrtle McKoy. She emigrated twice in her life, first to England as a young woman and then, in the early 70’s, to New York, eventually moving to south Florida in the 80’s.
Although her job titles included executive secretary, office manager, and executive assistant in business offices and non-profits, she was essentially the woman who got things done. Elaine was sassy, even sarcastic. She had perfected the eye roll that needed no interpretation. She sang in the choir, enjoyed a good party, and was a great dancer. But many benefited from her soft heart. She slipped money to young people and fed the hungry. As a volunteer, she showed up, even when not scheduled to work, just in case. She brought out the best in others, letting them think it was their idea to help. She was a good friend and a blessing to know.
Elaine is survived by her sisters, Eunice Rose, and Caroline Lock her brother, Michael Lock, her daughter and devoted caregiver Michelle Campbell and her son Barry Campbell, as well as three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many dear relatives and friends here, and in England , and in Jamaica. Services will be held at Saint Andrews an Episcopal Church, Lake Worth Beach on Saturday, October 21, at 1 PM with a reception following in the parish hall.
