Diane set an example of resilience and faithfulness, sacrificial serving and generous giving. Everywhere she served, she was intent on "doing what she was called to do as long as God called her to do it." As a guidance counselor at Faith Heritage School in Syracuse, NY, she believed positively impacting the lives of students was a moral responsibility. As an admin and ministry leader and team member at her local church, she was the smile of God, the hug someone did not even know they needed. She served her community through the Community Health Center of West Palm Beach, Feed the Hungry Pantry, and as president of her HOA.
Though she loved everyone unconditionally, the greatest share of her heart was reserved for her husband of 54 years, Larry Kelly. They were such a wonderful fit for one another and each one's strengths and acts of service complemented the other's. They had a beautiful covenant marriage with God at the head. Though in many things they were partners, Diane enjoyed simply spending time with her husband, especially when the companionship was accompanied by music; they sang in the church choir together and attended symphony concerts whenever they could get tickets.
Diane's love for family extended to her daughters (Jennifer and Dorothy) and her grandchildren (Lois, Emma, Jessica, and Alex). She enjoyed scrapbooking with Jennifer and political discussions with Dorothy and was ever-present in the upbringing of her grandchildren, never wanting to miss a single milestone or accomplishment - and proud of each one. As the oldest of 5 children born to (Dr.) Kenneth and Emma Lou Sayers, Diane treasured each familial tie as one that strengthened the bond of love in each relationship and within the family.
Diane was born November 9, 1946 in San Antonio, TX, graduated from Westminster College, PA, in 1968 (the year she also married Larry), and was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1988. From Oneida to Syracuse to West Palm Beach, her life's journey was interspersed with health challenges, unexpected joys, unplanned obstacles and magnificent blessings. Through it all, God was always faithful and, unlike so many of us, Diane was consistently faithful to Him. She knew where her real treasure resided all along.
