October 25, 1961 – November 18, 2023
Sadly, Sue passed away suddenly at Toronto General Hospital at the age of 62. While she had started undergoing treatment for cancer, it was an immense shock that she should leave us so early. She is deeply missed by all who knew her, chief amongst them her husband of 22 years, Peter.
Sue was born in Wales, Great Britain to Harold Callaway and Dawn (Julie) Hudson (both deceased) and the family immigrated to Canada. It was her Welsh background that was instrumental in her friendship and later marriage to Peter.
Sue also leaves behind her brother, Gareth and her nieces and nephews; Dylan, Ray, Matthew, Aidan, Ethan and Emma. With limited immediate family nearby, Sue held and treasured long standing friendships and it is those friendships that have endured with her passing to provide Peter with comfort in this difficult time.
Sue will be sadly missed by all the Baker girls at their annual Christmas cookie day and all family celebrations. Even though it had been some time, the annual adventures to the Kitchener-Waterloo farmer’s markets remain a cherished memory.
Sue’s career in libraries included the Ontario Public Service and the legal firm of Borden Ladner Gervais. She contributed for many years as an active volunteer to several professional organisations with the Ontario Association of Library Technicians first on the list. More recently, she devoted her efforts to volunteering at the SCHC (Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities) Covid-19 vaccination clinic, often being there three or more times a week.
Sue had numerous interests that she loved, ranging from knitting (many thanks to the West Hill United Crafty Ladies and the SCHC Knitting Group), to reading, to gaming with her online friends from The Old Timers Guild. There are many beloved felines now reunited with her at the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
A celebration of Sue’s life will be held at West Hill United 62 Orchard Park Drive, Scarborough at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
