Uncle Stan was larger than life. He lived with us when he first came to Canada and was an exuberant presence at our home. He  once bought ice skates for us all and took Sue, Jimmy and I skating at high park for the first time. Precious memories. He was  giving, joyous and loving. Alway there to help others, selflessly . Giving his time to resolve issues  with all sorts repairs and procedures to countless friends and family. I asked him often for help when I was tinkering  with my old cars, he helped me to keep them running and shared his knowledge  .  Zestfully opinionated, he could pass  for a barrister or solicitor, for he had never lost a case or argument, My last memory of Stan was in the autumn prior to him going to LTC. He sang from his heart “I Can’t Stop Loving You” Ray Charles, I joined in with him, I felt he sang to all the people who’s lives he had touched. He taught me of forgiveness and of the goodness and the otherwise in us all.

Dear Family,

I’m sending love and sharing happy memories of Uncle Stanny.  When my gran Shirley Wilson passed away in 2003, I found an old perfume box in her bedroom drawer. Inside the box, behind the perfume was a folded piece of paper. When I unravelled the paper I discovered it was my Baptism Certificate which listed Uncle Stanny as my Godfather at Our Lady of Willesden Catholic Church, Harlesden, London NW10 in April 1974. This was a total surprise but a beautiful discovery.  
He was always loving, kind and made me laugh whenever I saw him in London.

I remember at Thanksgiving dinners he'd always have the most epic "back in my day" stories that made everyone laugh! I'm really gonna miss those story times! 

I'll always remember one of the last times I recently seen Stan, he was in the emergency room at the hospital for a fall at the beginning of the pandemic and I just so happend to be there at the same time. Ariel called me and told me he was there but they weren't allowing any visitors in because of the pandemic. She was so worried and just wanted to be reassured that her dad was good and being taken care of since she couldn't reach him. So, I told the security I was his daughter and I was there to pick him up. A nurse came and escorted me to his room and said "Sir your daughter is here for you" his eyes lit up and said "WOW, THIS YOUNG LADY" in his big voice and a grin from ear to ear. He was so happy to see a familiar face  and I'll just never forget that smile.

It’s a sad day for all the Gonsalves family, on the passing of Uncle Stan. I’m not one of the fortunate ones who had the opportunity of knowing uncle Stan that well. He left Guyana when I was a baby/ child. I met him for the first time at uncle Eddy home in Guyana on his return visit, which was a short stay. Then my second encounter with him, was when I went to Canada for uncle John wife funeral. But from my mom, and many others, especially my eldest and respectful cousin Charles Hodge  words of explanation of what a loving and caring person he was, has given me the pleasure to feel that I had a loving, dedicated and caring uncle. By that I must say that my condolence goes out to the entire family on the passing of such a great human being. Rest In Peace Uncle Stan.

From the first day I started taking care of Stan I was  intimidated by his humour, later months down I’ve grown to understand his personality and appreciated time spent taking care of him. Sometime I even wished I knew him at an early age in my life because he shared a lot of information and laughter with me, I’m happy he’s in a better place and the journey and experience he had made him a great person in life, I will forever miss his jokes he played on me, from days I had no smile he could see through my eyes and encourage me to smile.  Rest In Peace

My first memory of my beloved uncle Stanie was when he came home for Christmas 1966, he was sound asleep in his mother's bed. Uncle Stanie was instrumental in my mother being successful in bringing my sister and I to live in England in 1968.  He, like his mother had a big heart and whenever he could help he would even if it meant going the extra mile.  This personality is why I miss him and will keep on missing him. There is no more memory to make with him. RIP my beautiful, kind and loving uncle. You're back with your mum, sister and all the others who went ahead of you. 

Uncle Stan was a very loving and supportive uncle.  I lived with him for 10 years after coming to Canada.  He left Guyana when I was quite young and I really did not know him before coming to Canada. He opened his home and his heart to me, and offered help when I needed it.
One of my best memories of him was when me and my cousins from England travelled to New York with him.
Rest In Peace Uncle Stan, you will be missed!❤️

Will cherish the memories of happy times spent together after i first arrived in Canada.  May you rest eternally.

After arriving took the time to show Toronto to me. Lived with him and Wife
and then went out on my own. An Uncle

Uncle Stan was a loving and caring uncle. He will be missed by everyone. My memory of uncle was at my family Christmas gathering when he and his brother John Gonsalves comes over and have lots of fun drinking, eating and cracking jokes.  I love you uncle Stan and may you rest in peace.
