Our beloved mother, Shui Kwai Chan (Suzie), was born in Canton, China, on August 21, 1933, and immigrated to Canada with our father, Lung Hing Chan, in the early part of 1960. They settled in Toronto, Ontario and had five children: Lawrence, Dorothy, Donna, George, and Raymond.
In her early days in Canada Suzie, took her children to church service and made friends, though she also held Buddhist beliefs. Suzie was well known and well liked as she worked at Honest Ed’s for over 40 years for Ed Mirvish. He gave her a life time appointment to work there if she wanted. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and also started a “lottery group” and would encourage family and friends to join her group, as she wished to win the big lotto 649 and travel all over the world “she would repeat”.
In her late 70’s Suzie started developing health issues. She was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia at the age of 80 and was admitted to Seven Oaks Long Term Care Facility where she was provided with tremendous and loving care by all staff. Suzie resided at Seven Oaks for over 10 years, she is one of their longest standing residents, she was well liked and made many friends over the years.
Sadly, Suzie peacefully passed away on January 4, 2024 and was surrounded by all of her loved ones.
Suzie is survived by her five children, Cindy (daughter-in-law), Caitlyn and Caleigh (granddaughters), Len and Marc (son-in-laws).
The world changes from year to year,
Our lives from day to day,
But the memory of you,
Shall never pass away
