In the early morning of Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Scarborough Centenary Hospital, we lost a very beautiful woman. Joan Isabel Holloway (nee Lintern) passed away peacefully at the young age of 104.
Born on September 19, 1919 in Swindon, England and at nine years of age, emigrated to Canada with her parents, aunts, uncles and cousin in May 1929 and settled in the west end of Toronto. She was a straight A student all through her education. She worked for the Department of Defense during WWII and then many years at Sunnybrook Hospital as a medical secretary. She was very meticulous, had outstanding organization skills at work and at home and highly respected in her work ethics. She was also an extremely talented artist.
Beloved and caring mother to her only child Heather, Grandmother to Cara, Sister-in-law to Ray, Vic, Jean and Bruce (Karen) and Aunt to many nieces and nephews in British Columbia. Preceded by her late husband of 73 years, Howard, and parents Ethel and Frederick.
She was also a member of the First Alliance Church (Toronto). Although many of her family and friends are no longer with us, she will be greatly missed by those who knew her as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a true friend.
She was a gentle, caring, kind, generous and loving friend to those who knew her and overall an incredible lady.
The family asks that if you wish to make a donation in her name, for it to be to a local animal shelter in your area.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.giffenmackscarborough.com for the HOLLOWAY family.
