Gunn, Evelyn Joan - The family of Evelyn Joan Gunn of Scarborough, Ontario announce with sadness her passing on Monday, Jan 10, 2022 at the age of 84 years young. Born in Toronto, she is the daughter of the late Claude and Rosalie (Field) Gunn. Evelyn attended Bedford Park Elementary School, Northern Vocational School (HAIL dear old Northern!) and Danforth Tech. Over the years Evelyn worked at Patons and Baldwins, Creative Sewing Supplies, Vindum Sewing and Crafts and with the Federal Government of Canada, where cumulatively she had a variety of interesting experiences, from working at the CNE, teaching, traveling and interacting with co-workers until she retired with disability due to cancer in 1992. She enjoyed connecting with her community at St. Leonard's and later St. Crispin's Anglican Church for many years. She enjoyed sewing "I sew for love", knitting and cross stitch for people she cared for, crafts of all types and music. She was award winning in her knitting as a youth. She was never one to decline to express an opinion, and her family heard many. (We know she loved us all.) In later years she enjoyed watching the wildlife in her treed yards out her windows with a hot cup of tea. Evelyn loved her family dearly including her dogs and cats and she had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She enjoyed connecting at family gatherings, reveled in belting out a few tunes as they would jam, and watching the little ones grow. Evelyn will be greatly missed by her cherished daughters, Nancy (Keith) Soltys, Pickering, Ont., their children Edward, Rosalie (Connor) Loughlean; and Melanie (Peter) White, Ottawa, Ont., their children Cameron and Devin. Top Gunn was treasured by her mischievous younger brothers William (deceased survived by wife Lynda) Gunn, Bala; Gary Gunn, Niagara Falls; Daniel (Mary Lou) Gunn, Keswick; John Gunn, Roches Point; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, sister by choice Isabel Ewald, and loving friends and supports. "She who dies with the most fabric wins" so she has also left behind a heck of a lot of craft material and memorabilia. The Family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Michael Garron Hospital for their care, compassion and communications. A funeral service will be by invite only on Saturday, January 29, 2022, 2:00pm at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave E, Toronto, with a virtual service available. A celebration of life and burial at Christ Church Cemetery, Roches Point will be held at a later date. We ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Evelyn's memory to Toronto Wildlife Centre (TorontoWildlifeCentre.com) or Interval House Ottawa (please specify "donations to be directed to pet housing". IntervalHouseOttawa.org) or a charity of your choice.
Never more than a thought away. Loved and Remembered every day.
