Marianne Louise Ricketts

Marianne Louise Ricketts, 90, of Harwich, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Pleasant Bay in Brewster, MA. She was the loving daughter of the late Frederick and Julie (Grendel) Becker. Marianne was born in Hackensack, NJ and lived in Palmer Township, PA before moving to Cape Cod over 20 years ago.

Marianne was known for her kindness and willingness to help people. She had an appreciation for nature and loved the Cape Cod beaches, especially West Dennis where she enjoyed her morning walks. She also adored animals of all kinds but had a specific fondness for her neighbor’s dog who she’d take on her early walks around the apartment complex. Marianne delighted in birdwatching and in her later years, when unable, her neighbors diligently kept the bird feeder full for her continued birdwatching enjoyment. Marianne also enjoyed gardening. She was known for her diligent work in her garden, moving plants around and sharing the fruits of her green thumb, splitting and sharing plants with her neighbors and friends. Marianne also enjoyed scenic drives throughout Cape Cod, be assured when riding with Marianne, Route 6 was not an option. She knew all the back roads and those along for the ride shared in joy of her scenic routes.

Marianne is survived by Terry Anne Schouten of Dallas Center, IA; her son Kenneth E. Newton of Orleans, MA; her grandchildren Phoebe, Nyle, Michael and Krystina and her sisters Frauke Watjean of Germany, Audrey Stout of Malvern, PA, Jackie Becker of Vermont and Barbara Bonafield of Clifton, NJ. She is predeceased by brother Freddie Becker.

A Celebration of Life gathering for Marianne will be held Wednesday, May 11th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Doane, Beal & Ames, 260 Main St. (Route 28) in West Harwich, MA 02671.
