Lawrence was born on February 5,1936. He was the oldest brother to Robert Coffin of Harwich, Gary Coffin of Dennisport and sister Bonnie and brother-in-law Craig Mashoke of Dennis. He leaves behind his daughter and son in-law Laurie and Robert Brouthers of Harwich, his grandson Stephen and wife Courtney and their children Matthew and Jameson and his grandson Matthew. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, many friends and extended family.
Larry grew up in Harwich where he would later serve as a Police officer and serve on several town committees. He was a US Army Korean War veteran and after spending time during the occupation of Berlin received the Medal of Good Conduct. He worked alongside his father and brothers in the family business William R Coffin and Sons Rubbish and Plums Package Store and the late Brothers Two Restaurant. He continued to serve on the board of directors for William R Coffin and Sons Company in his retirement, which he spent at his lake house in Hampstead, NH with his late wife Joyce.
Larry was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, as well as a civil servant always looking out for others and trying to help make his town and world a better place.
A Memorial Service will take place 2 PM Saturday, November 9th at Doane, Beal & Ames in West Harwich, MA followed by burial with military honors at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Harwich Port. Visiting hours Saturday November 9th 1-2 PM that the funeral home prior to the Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the American Cancer society.
