John Frederick “Fred” Clancy of, West Harwich, MA and Venice, FL, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2021 at the age of 88.
Born in Brockton, Massachusetts on November 10, 1933, he was an accomplished high school baseball player at Brockton High School, and he later played baseball for the US Army, while also utilizing his photography skills taking aerial photos when stationed in Germany. Fred was a proud Korean War Veteran. Fred worked many years at New England Telephone and Telegraph Company. He retired early at the age of 55 and continued his primary profession of being a Sportfishing Charter Boat Captain on his boat the "Firefly", moored at Allen’s Harbor in Harwich Port. Captain Fred was happiest being on the open ocean in the "Firefly" with his family, friends, and fishing buddies. Fred and his wife Betty enjoyed their winters in Venice FL, and their summers at his family home in West Harwich.
Fred is survived by his wife Betty of 25 years, his immediate children Fred Clancy, Jr and Fred's partner Niki Parenteau; his daughter Kathleen Barrack and her husband Jim Barrack; his step-children Glenn Castro, Deborah Rose and her partner Frank; Neil Castro and his partner Jeff; Kathleen Rose, Brian Castro and his wife Victoria; Scott Castro and his wife Brigett and his pre-deceased step-daughter Betsy Mahar. Fred loved his 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
