Wesley Raymond White, 87, passed away December 9, 2024 at Brio of Johnston. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2024 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. A private family burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Winfield, KS at a later date.
Wesley attended high school in Beirut, Lebanon and graduated from Winfield High School in Kansas. He attended University of Kansas and earned his PhD and became faculty member. Rock Chalk JHAWK! He later worked at Ford Aerospace in California. He and Ruth enjoyed wine country for many years.
Wesley loved to travel around the world and enjoyed craft beers, fine wine, great cheese, and of course the opera.
Wesley is survived by his third wife, Katherine L. White of Memphis, MO; son, Anthony White (Laurie-Jean) of Colorado Springs, CO; and granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth; step-children, Lynda Kiehne (Roger Chapman), Andrea Koppel, Richard Pohlman, Sara McMechan, John Pohlman, Nathan Wall (Beth), and Elisha Adreon (Tracy); and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Francis and Fern Elizabeth White; brother, Robert B. White (1998); sister, Josephine L. Ungles (2002); and second wife, Ruth E. White (2019).
Memorials may be made in Wesley’s name to University of Kansas (KU), Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, or The Metropolitan Opera.
