Thompson Grant Hampton, age 72, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022, peacefully at his home. A graveside service will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa at 9:30 AM on September 23, 2022.
Tom was born to Edward and Mabel (Miller) Hampton on February 10, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa Tom grew up in Valley Junction where he attended Valley High School and later graduated in 1968. He served his country proudly when he enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam. Tom loved spending time with friends and family and his beloved dog, Ted E. Bear. He enjoyed cooking, shooting, cards, fishing, westerns, and of course his Diet Coke.
Thompson is survived by his daughters, Sarah Hampton and Rachel Hampton; his brother, Matthew Hampton; granddaughter, Ava Girl, the son he never had, Chris (Kira) Norman, and grandson Caydin Harper; he leaves an abundance of two nephews, five nieces and, five great nieces.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mira Athy, and his brother, Edward Hampton Junior.
