West Des Moines
Heaven gained a new Angel. Sylvia passed away peacefully Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her home in West Des Moines. A private graveside service for the family will be at Lincoln Cemetery in Polk City.
Sylvia was born May 22, 1921 in Fagus, Missouri to James and Cansade (Davis) Thomas. After high school, she relocated to St. Louis where she met the love of her life, Alphonsus Indelicato. They united in marriage in St. Louis on February 14, 1939. She worked in the factories while Al was serving in the Navy during WWII. They made their home in St. Louis, MO; Gillespie, IL; West Des Moines, IA; Richmond, TX and finally in West Des Moines again. Al passed away in 2001. Sylvia was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish in West Des Moines. She enjoyed her bowling leagues at Van Lanes and loved to travel to Las Vegas. Sylvia was an excellent cook and loved to cook huge meals for her family and friends. Sylvia cherished her roles in life as Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Aunt.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Tom Indelicato of Houston,Texas; her special daughter-in-law, Penee Indelicato of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Tiffany of West Des Moines, Joseph of Houston, TX and Brent of Rosenberg, TX; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Madison of West Des Moines; and all her very special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; siblings, Elmer Thomas, Dewey Thomas, and Mattie McComic.
Memorials in her memory may be directed to the Alzheimer’s’ Association, which was her favorite charity.
