Stephen C. Findley, 66, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Summerset Winery, 15101 Fairfax Street, Indianola, IA 50125.
Farmer was born June 29, 1948 in Des Moines, IA to Craig and Marian (Smith) Findley. Farmer grew up in Johnston, his family being some of the founding fathers. He farmed for several years and was a part of a three generation Findley Seed Corn business. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked as a mechanic at Granger Motors for 14 years. Farmer was the owner of Farmer's Auto working full and part time for over 25 years. He was a member of Johnston Evangelical Free Church for over 25 years. He worked at the downtown Farmer's Market for Summerset Winery. Most recently he worked for O'Reilly's Auto Parts as a driver. He was a member of the Waveland Golf League. Farmer was an avid duck hunter and loved golfing, fishing, water and snow skiing, boating and riding his snow mobile.
Farmer is survived by his wife, Cindy Findley of Cumming; daughter, Stephanie Findley of Indianola; two step-sons, Felix (Molly) Weaver of Cumming and Basil (Malinda) Weaver of Villa Park, IL; grandson, Maximus Craig King; five step-grandchildren, Katelynn, Kiely, Kaylee, Jack and Owen Weaver and sister, Marcia (Joe) Cotton of Peoria, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

His family and his great host of friends will certainly miss his unique and interesting personality.
