Patty was born in Prairie City, IA to Raymond and Mary Louise Van Ekeren Roberts on January 29, 1954. Patty graduated from Prairie City Community School. She attended University of Northern Iowa, Drake University and University of Phoenix where she focused on math and actuarial science. Math was her passion and she was a proud member of Fellow Society of Actuaries. She spent her career as the Chief Actuary of Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
She loved her husband, Kevin Huffman, of 39 years and her daughter, Addison (Thomas) Jennings, who gave her the joy of her granddaughter, Blair. Always by her side was her dog, Tulip and her cat, Cupcake. She loved all animals so she was a strong contributor to the ARL. She enjoyed volunteering throughout her lifetime. She was a candy striper at the local nursing home and was active in Big Sisters and Big Brothers program. She volunteered time at Midwest Mission Distribution Center, sewing diapers for layette kits and served at Supper Club at Trinity United Methodist. She was also a dedicated donor to United Way. Their home was always open to youth who needed a place to call home and hosted many family gatherings and holidays. She was famous for her homemade gravy. She loved spending time in her happy place, Straight Lake, Minnesota growing up and then with her growing family. She was an avid fisherwoman who told many stories about the big fish she caught. She never stopped bragging about her 29inch walleye. Patty was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Huffman; daughter, Addison (Thomas) Jennings; granddaughter, Blair Jennings; sisters, Francy (Jim) Furman, Ginny (Mike) Dalton, Sharron (Steve) Frykman; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
