Nadine Fryman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family members on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at McLaren’s Resthaven Funeral Chapel, West Des Moines on Friday, October 29, 2010 where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Ellen “Nadine” Fryman was born in Harlan, Iowa, January 21, 1920 to James Arthur Curtis and Edith Ethel Green Curtis. She attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Harlan High School, earning a teaching certificate. She continued her studies at Four C’s College, but fell in love and married Harold Ulysses Fryman on September 3, 1938. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 21years, retiring in 1979. She was a life member and Past President of the Des Moines Police Auxiliary Local #10 and a Past President and life member of the Iowa State Policeman’s Association Auxiliary. She also was a member of Wesley Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her large family, enjoyed gardening, watching sporting events, especially the Chicago Cubs, and she began each day working the Jumble word puzzle. Those who knew and loved her will always remember her ready wit, unconditional love, and unwavering generosity.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Judy Heaberlin of Fort Collins, CO, Doug (Annette) of Colorado Springs, CO, Linda (Gregg) Rosky of West Des Moines, IA and Diana (Doug) Larson of Maquoketa, IA; 13 grandchildren, Jeff (Pam) Heaberlin, Wendy (Scott) Schaffer, Tracy Heaberlin, Todd (Chelsea) Fryman, Jill (Lance) Collier, Jennifer McKee, Rebecca (Matt) Taraborelli, Greg Harris, Susan (Charlie) Colosimo, Mark (Peggy) Rosky, Darby (Todd) Clegg, Dabney (Matt) Hargrafen, Dory (Darren) Moon; 24 Great-Grandchildren, Christopher and Jonathan Heaberlin; Lauren and Aaron Schaffer; Cody and Logan Fryman; Peyton and Ryan Collier; Anthony and Nathan McKee; Luciano Taraborelli; Charlie, Mario, Betsy and Olivia Colosimo; Nick, Samantha and Emma Rosky; Larson, Josie and Macy Clegg; Findley Hargrafen; Cameron and Evan Moon; twin sister, Maxine Paulsen and brother, James (Alison) Curtis.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in1999; infant daughters, Michelle Marie and Toni Marie; siblings, Donald Curtis, Elva Kees, Darlene Yeaton; parents, James and Edith Curtis.
