James “Jim” Schrock, 81, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at UnityPoint-Methodist in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 2023, at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 21, at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Jim was born July 29, 1942 in Lafayette, IN to Helen and Louie Schrock. He spent most of his life in Des Moines, where he retired from McAninch Corporation. Jim enjoyed golf, traveling, collecting antiques, going to the casino, and spending time with his friends and family.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Doni (Jeff) McGivney of Des Moines; son, Jamie (Kristi) Schrock of West Des Moines; brother, Larry Schrock of Des Moines; grandsons, Dakota (Amber) Schrock of West Des Moines and Gavin (Xenia) McGivney of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donita and his parents.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at UnityPoint-Methodist and Younkers Rehab for their compassionate care of Jim these last few months.
