Jacqueline Leigh Brown-Fugate was born on March 12, 1956 in Des Moines, IA to Raymond G. and Betty Lou Brown and passed away peacefully at home in the Beaverdale neighborhood of Des Moines on August 18, 2022 with her family at her side.
Jacqueline was a 1974 graduate of Saydel High School. In 1992 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Fugate. Jacqueline enjoyed gardening, planting, and anything that involved nature and its beauty. She loved the outdoors and camping, creating many memories with her children while camping and enjoying nature. Jacqueline had a deep respect and connection with Mother Earth, God, and all of God’s creatures. She would rescue and feed squirrels, possums, raccoons, and birds. Jacqueline also enjoyed music, singing, dancing, writing poetry, arts and crafts, and was a phenomenal cook; she loved to bake and cook large homemade meals. Her food was exquisite!!
Jacqueline loved holidays, particularly Christmas and anything that brought family together. She loved and adored her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world, along with her little dog Bella. She was also a second mother to many folks, welcoming anyone with open arms and giving selflessly to those around her. Jacqueline had a contagious laugh and beautiful personality.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Fugate; daughters, Stephanie Sanger, Chelsea (husband Collin) White, and Olivia (husband Jacob) Welch; mother, Betty Staley; grandchildren, Zoe, Connor, Vivian, Cora and Cylus; and beloved dog Bella. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond G. Brown; brother, Raymond C. Brown; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
