David Robinson Libby, age 81, of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 10 a.m. at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with a placement to follow at the Resthaven Cemetery Mausoleum.
David was born on October 30, 1942 to Albert and Ruth (Robinson) Libby in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, David went on to Drake University where he majored in Journalism and Advertising. After graduating, he went to Boone, Iowa where he worked as a sports editor. From here, he went to West Des Moines where he started with Iowa Realty, and was there until retirement.
In his freetime, Dave enjoyed being a collector of antiques. More specifically antique advertising signs and tins. He was most passionate about classic antique restored cars. David's most prized possession was his 1957 T-Bird convertible and he and Bonnie enjoyed being members of the Antique Car Club.
David loved traveling with Bonnie and occasionally would take river cruises with friends. He was an accomplished card player and enjoyed teaching and sharing that with family members. Holiday gatherings with family were something he cherished.
David is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Bonnie; sisters, Marilyn Jones and Kathy Murphy; nephews, Ted (Melanie) Jones, Tom (Susan) Jones, Brett (Jenny) Murphy, John (Aly) Murphy, and Eric (Amy) Groen; nieces, Libby (David) Watkins, and Annie Hansen; and many numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Larry Groen, Ned Jones, and Denny Murphy.
