On November 27, 1965, a week after graduating from college, Stanley David Schroder and Andrea Ruth Lundeen were married in Moline, IL. They began their life together in East Moline and soon welcomed their two daughters. While in the Quad Cities, she enjoyed raising the girls and substitute teaching. Their journey took them to Wisconsin for Stan’s career with John Deere. The family embraced Wisconsin’s snowy winters enjoying snowmobiling with family friends and exploring the state’s lakes and parks in warmer weather.
Eventually, they relocated to Urbandale, Iowa, where she put her relocation experience to beneficial use by becoming a real estate agent priding herself on being a relocation specialist. Her commitment to the community grew deeper through her service on the Urbandale Planning and Zoning Commission, one of her favorite volunteer roles.
Always an eye for design, in the 80’s she helped design her family’s home that was the Best in Show winner for the Des Moines Home Show expo that year and featured in Better Homes and Garden magazine.
As a mother, she loved attending the girl’s activities and this support continued throughout their lives. Upon retiring, she and Stan moved to Siesta Key, Florida, where they enjoyed the coastal life until his passing. Later, she returned to Iowa enjoying reuniting with her friends and cheering for her grandchildren’s activities and from afar to Pennsylvania.
An avid traveler and lifelong learner, she was enthusiastic about history and enjoying the ocean. She was proud to have once volunteered with the USO in St. Maarten, where she and Stan warmly welcomed and supported the military members from the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and their families for their naval seaside visit.
Faith, family, and community were her guiding lights. Her interests were as diverse as her spirit. Active in church over the years she volunteered as Youth Director, on building committees, and enjoyed being active in bible studies and women’s groups.
