Maria is survived by her children, Maria Zelda Rocha, Jose G. Vela, Omar L. Vela, Orlando R. Vela, and Michael R. Vela; her sister Adela Trevino and her brother Francisco Trevino.
Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Jose G. Vela Jr. and her brothers Jesus Trevino, Juan F. Trevino and Emilio Falcon.
Maria Isabel Vela was a dedicated daughter, wife and mother. She was a life-long educator who always advocated for her students and her community. Her love for her family was immeasurable and her legacy will continue on in her children and grandchildren.
A visitation for Maria will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel - Highland Funeral Home, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 10:00 AM at San Martin De Porres, 901 N Texas Blvd., Weslaco, Texas 78596 followed by interment at Highland Memorial Park.
