Ernesto is preceded in death by his parents Ernesto Alanis Sr. and Guadalupe Garcia, and his siblings Andres Alanis, Teresa Alanis, Elida Alanis and Leonila Campbell.
Ernesto is survived by his wife, Delia Maldonado; his children Ernie Alanis (Isabel), Hector Alanis (Rose), Melissa Alanis, Honi Mendoza (Emilio), Ricardo Mendoza (Idette), Michael Mendoza, and Andrew Mendoza; his grandchildren Maggie, Marylou, Jenny, Omar, AJ, Kasey, Corrin, Matthew, Nicole, Omar A., Trae and 4 great grandchildren and his sister Guadalupe Alanis.
Ernesto was in the US Army having served two tours in Vietnam with the 101 airborne screaming eagles division as a sniper. Ernesto was the Director of utilities for the City of Edinburg for many years, he was a cat lover, a coin collector, a gun collector; and enjoyed fishing. He will be greatly missed by many and will forever live in our hearts.
A visitation for Ernesto will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland, 6705 N. FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78599. Chapel services will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, with Pastor Hector Perez officiating, at 10:00 AM, at Funeraria del Angel Funeral Home in Weslaco TX. Inurnment will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM at RGV State Veterans Cemetery 2520 Inspiration Rd., Mission, TX, Military honors by the American Legion Post 205.
