Ana Maria Rodriguez Cowan, age 75, passed away on December 6th, 2024, after facing her battle with cancer. Ana Maria was born in Weslaco on September 30, 1949 to Amadeo and Maria de los Angeles Rodriguez. Ana Maria earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Bilingual Education from Texas A&M, Corpus Christi, Texas. She worked for many Texas school districts from Corpus Christi to Brownsville, as an elementary school teacher. Later, she earned her Master’s Degree in Spanish from Pan American University, Edinburg, Texas, and worked as an elementary school counselor in Combes, Texas, until her retirement. As a Harlingen, Texas Queen of Peace Catholic Church parishioner, she played guitar and sang in weekly masses, as well as volunteered in community church activities. She loved giving back to the community and volunteered with the Harlingen Police Department Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association & Volunteers in Policing.
Ana is survived by her four children: Robert Kilgallon, April Kilgallon (Campillo) Cruz, Christopher Cowan, and Michael Cowan. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Dylan Kilgallon, Breana Kilgallon, Brayden Kilgallon, Alejandro Campillo, JuanValentin Campillo, Jaxandria Campillo, James Cowan, Amadeo Cowan, Gwen Cowan and Nova Cowan. She also leaves her dear church fellow musicians and her lifelong close friends, her ‘Comadres’.
Ana’s memorial viewing will be on Monday, December 16th from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel in Weslaco, Texas. Her funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 17th at 10:00 am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Harlingen, Texas, immediately followed by her internment at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas
