Paul was a longtime resident of Welsh, where he and his brothers owned and operated Marcantel Feed Stores in both Jennings and Welsh. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #283 and the Knights of Columbus Council #2855. Paul had a deep love for the Lord and was a devoted Christian, exemplifying his faith and commitment to Jesus Christ. He was always eager to share his wisdom with anyone willing to listen. Above all, he cherished his grandchildren and held his faith close to his heart. Paul was a man of morals, principles and standards which he instilled in his grandchildren and those who would listen to him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Betty Mott Druilhet Marcantel; step children, Tim Druilhet (Michele), Patrick Druilhet, and Philip Druilhet (Robyn); grandchildren, Arianna Fontenot (Michael), Caroline Druilhet (Tyler Ardoin), Corbin Druilhet (Christinea), Mason Paul Druilhet and Rylan Alan Druilhet; brother, Michael J. Marcantel; great grandchildren, Analee Rose Druilhet and baby Ardoin on the way; nieces, Wanette Martin and Valerie Mier (Thomas); great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Biney Marcantel; and sisters, Jocelyn, Bernice and Mary Marcantel.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh on Friday, December 6, 2024 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. with a Cursillo Rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
