Catherine was the fourth of five children born to Andrew and Sophie Golden on August 13, 1942, in Jennings, La.
She attended and graduated from Sulphur High School in 1960, where she was a member of the Royal Clippers playing the snare drum before meeting her one true love, William, who was stationed at Chennault Air Force Base, at the time. They married later that same year, and together they welcomed three children; William Jr., Jeffrey and Lori.
Catherine and William were fortunate to travel the world, lead exciting lives, and collect many treasures along the way until William retired from the Air Force and they chose to settle near Catherine’s family in Sulphur, but by far her most cherished treasures were her children and grandchildren. She doted on them and never missed an opportunity to brag on their accomplishments and demonstrate her love.
Although she never joined the traditional workforce, Catherine was an extremely talented seamstress. She created dance costumes for a local studio, homecoming and wedding dresses, and you knew she truly loved you if you received a homemade doll or craft. She was known for her willingness to help others, her beautiful flower beds, being active in the extra curricular activities of her children, and she certainly ran a tight and well kept household. She was a rule-follower who expected you to follow the rules as well with her gentle reminders, but you could count on her sharp wit and great sense of humor to be enjoyed at every gathering.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, her loving husband of 59 years, William “Bill” Lewis Sr,; her son, William "Bill" Lewis Jr.; her sister, Annette Angel; her sister, Ethel Lyons; and her brother, Phillip Golden.
Those left to recount her memories are her children, Jeffrey (Melody) Lewis and Lori (Steve) Perkins; a daughter-in-law, Sherrie Lewis; her grandchildren, Camryn Lewis, Emily Perkins, Alexander Perkins, Amber Viator; one she loved as her grandchild, Nicole Delahoussaye; and a brother, Allen Golden.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday January 6, 2023 at Oaklawn Cemetery (Beaufort St. Welsh, Louisiana, 70591).
