Susan was born on January 24, 1946 to Harold and Mary Soults in Provincetown, Massachusetts. She graduated from Provincetown High School in 1964.
She married her first husband Jimmy Smith in August 1965 and settled in Iowa where she adopted her first two children, both Native Americans, Kim and Shelby, in 1968.
Susan moved back to Provincetown and began dating her second husband Tony Jackett in December 1971. After a brief courtship, the couple married on November 17, 1972. They quickly had four children together - Braunwyn, Beau, Luke, and Kyle.
Susan was the quintessential homemaker and took pride in making her space a sanctuary for her family. After raising her children, she worked at various local spots in Provincetown, Truro, and Wellfleet. People might remember seeing her behind the counter at the Donut Shop, at the front desk and in medical records at Outer Cape Health Services, at the register at Days’ Market, inspecting homes for various property management companies, collecting lunch money at Provincetown High School, surveying Pamet Harbor as an assistant Shellfish Warden, and volunteering at Mass Appeal.
Susan was a kind and gentle soul who touched the lives of so many people with her warmth and authenticity. She believed that kindness is the core of humanity, and she practiced it daily.
Susan enjoyed shopping, and in particular, interacting with everyone she came across while she did it. Whether it be the clerks at the counter or old acquaintances in the aisles, she would compel you to spend a few moments with her. As her stories unfolded, she would sprinkle in laughter and editorial comments, which made her storytelling natural and engaging. When Susan was talking to you, she made you feel special. She was a beam of light.
Susan loved the simple things in life. She loved decorating her home, she loved collecting purses, she loved taking care of her pets, and she loved reading just about anything. But most of all, she loved her family.
Susan is survived by her husband Tony Jackett, her sister Cheryl Crosby, her daughter Shelby Smith and her husband Raphael Serrano, her daughter Braunwyn Jackett and her partner Nathaniel McKean, her son Beau Jackett, her son Luke Jackett and his wife Kelsey Jackett, her son Kyle Jackett, her stepdaughter Ava Worthington, her grandchildren James, Nico, Jordan, and Riccardo Serrano, Etel Amato, Ezra and Iris McKean, Cole and Lucie Jackett, her great-granddaughter Daisy Casper, and her nieces Erika Meads and Justine Crosby. She was predeceased by her son Kim Smith.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown on Saturday, October 12 at 10:00am, followed by a celebration of life at Harbor Hotel in Provincetown from 12:00pm-3:00pm.
