Cecilia Mary Hall

Her daughter Karen lives in FL. Parents Jesse and Mary predeceased her. Cecilia also is survived by loving nieces and nephews.

Her parents who were both Army officers. Shortly after Cecilia's birth in Texas, her dad, Cecilia's hero, was posted to Wash, DC with the FBI. The family relocated to VA. where Cecilia attended school. In the late 70's the family moved to Truro where they had summered for years. Cecilia, her daughter, and her parents loved it here. Eventually though the family opted to move to FL. Cecilia opted to stay in Provincetown.

She adapted well and became acquainted with nearly everyone who crossed her path. Strangers didn't remain strangers to Cecilia. She was seen all over in her colorful garb and hat covered in buttons of causes she cared about.

Cecilia found her way by being out in town. Walking everywhere. She gardened in town gardens, helped out shopkeepers, and had a special love for the library where she "barked" bringing tourists in to see the Rose Dorothea. She fueled the ire of those who didn't like her bird feeding. She would take Napi's leftover bread and go to Lopes Square to feed the pigeons. On any day she could be seen surrounded by pigeons with them perching on her. She was hopping mad when she was ordered to stop feeding the birds, and madder still when the birds were killed.

Despite her myriad of physical and mental handicaps she thrived. That is a credit to our town, who supported her in so many ways. We formed a group who helped her. Her former nurses from Relief Home Health, everyone at OCHS, the Provincetown and Lower Cape ambulance, Elder Services, and the Town COA. She loved her church, St Mary of the Harbor, and attended with Maghi as often as possible. Seashore Point rehab facility took a special interest in her.. The staff at Seashore Point, RNs, LPNs, and all the caregivers were lovely to her when she relocated there. Her saviors in the end, were the women at Beacon Hospice who made her passing so much easier.

It took a village..

Her two favorite hang out spots were Farland and the Provincetown Florist. The folks at Farland were very kind to her and gave her special birthday treats. At the florist, 30 or so years ago, she asked could she help, and then she stayed. She helped around the shop and she and Maghi became friends. As time went by, Maghi became responsible for more and more of Cecilia's life. Maghi became Cecilia's advocate in so many ways. Both women were blessed with their friendship and Cecilia's family has a special bond with Maghi.

Her memorial service will be at St Mary of the Harbor on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 2 pm.
