Thomas “Tom, T.C.” Clarence Poole, Jr (age 82) passed away on May 22, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on October 14, 1940. He and his high school sweetheart, Ruth Ann (Womack) Poole, celebrated their 60th anniversary last June.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas “Pet” Poole, Sr & Edna Mae Poole, his brother, Kenneth Poole, and his sister, Clara Herrington. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Poole, Tommy and Kerry Poole (son/daughter-in-law), Teri Brockway (daughter), grandchildren—Jacob Poole, Kaitlyn Buck (Andrew Buck), Bailey Brockway, Morgan Brockway, Jacy Brockway, and great grandchild, Jovie Buck, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Before retiring, Tom was co-owner of Fuel Transport, Inc and owner of In Touch Christian Book Store. He also worked for many years at Grocer’s Supply Company and Fleming Foods. After high school, Tom attended Ouachita Baptist University, then joined the United States Air Force in 1960, where he was stationed in Topeka, Kansas and started his family. While in Kansas, he also attended Washburn University. In 1966, Tom and Ruth Ann moved to Houston, where they raised their children. Tom enjoyed traveling back and forth between Calion, Arkansas and Houston. He considered it a perfect day when he got to spend time riding the tractor at his farm in Bearden, AR, and it was even better when he was joined by his nephew, Michael Haas. He could often be found at the local coffee shop where he enjoyed a fresh cup of coffee while catching up on the news or visiting with friends. He was a member of both Calion Baptist Church and First Baptist Pasadena. A devoted family man, Tom adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and his little great granddaughter, whose eyes lit up when she saw her Paw Paw. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Paw Paw, uncle, and friend. He leaves his strong faith in God as a wonderful legacy to his family members, who look forward to seeing him again in Heaven one day.
