Russell G. West

Russell G. West, Jr., 88, of Houston, Texas, passed away May 12, 2016. He was born in Keyser, West Virginia on May 3, 1928 to Rev. Russell G. West, Sr. and Mildred Conner West. He was married to Barbara Carruth West for 67 years.

Russell graduated from McPherson College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He had a career in Material Management with Celenese, Brown &Root, Fluor and Jacobs Engineering.

Russell’s passion was playing golf and he kept scorecards from all of his rounds at many courses, including Pebble Beach. He owned and operated Russ’s Golf Range on the corner of Highway 3 and Dixie Farm Rd. for 5 years with his wife, Barbara.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Waltine Zimmerman and Virginia Lee Doane; and daughter-in-law, Rebecca West.

Russell is survived by his wife; brother, Don West; children Gina Lozano and husband Baldemar, Miles West, Todd West and Julie Valenti and husband Steve; daughter of the heart, Tara Dittmann and husband Bill; grandchildren Clint Lozano, Tony Lozano, Angie Lozano Horne and husband Ian, Rachel Valenti, Gina Valenti, and Dwight West and wife Becca; and great-grandchildren Major and Marshall Horne.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home with interment to immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
