Roger Murray Barber, age 75, of Clear Lake City, Texas, passed away on September 15, 2019. He was born in Tyler, Texas on April 27, 1944, to Tom Newcomb Barber and Dessie Belton Murray Barber. He was married to Diana Lynn Watson for 45 years.
Roger was a U.S. Navy Seabee Viet Nam veteran. He also had careers as a Draftsman at Hudson Engineering, hotel and restaurant management at University of Houston-Central Campus, and Financial Manager at University of Houston-Clear Lake and Louie’s on the Lake restaurant, and was Vice President of Ameritrac Railroad Services. He was a member and president of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Hobbies and interests that brought Roger much pleasure included golf, landscape design, building and tinkering around the house, coaching youth soccer and basketball, playing football in high school and at University of Texas, grill master, and artistic painter. Most importantly, he was a loving and caring family man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Newcomb Barber and Dessie Belton Murray Barber.
Roger is survived by his wife, Diana; his children, Robert Newcomb Barber, Richard Llewellyn Barber, and Sara Lynn Barber; and his brother, Tom Newcomb Barber, Jr.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598.
