We celebrate the life of Robert (Doug) Irving. He was born December 28, 1950 in Texarkana, AR. He graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena and attended San Jacinto College where he earned an Associates Degree. Doug was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and past Master of Gus A. Brandt Lodge #1296 in Houston, TX. He also belonged to The Order of The Eastern Star, Rosewyn Chapter #927, Houston, TX.
His career covered over 50 years in the Tele-Communications industry.
He had various interests including fishing, gardening, loving his animals, and tinkering with stuff.
Doug was a unique and kind person that loved people and never met a stranger. He was revered by everyone that came in contact with him. He loved the Lord and expressed his love and compassion to all.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Kathleen V. Irving Stephens and Hugh Robert Irving; step-father Felix Stephens; and son Gary Irving. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Corder Irving; daughter Kristin Irving Libby, son-in-law Chris Libby, and grandson Spencer Libby of Pasadena, TX; daughter Nikki DeVillier and son-in-law Steven DeVillier of League City, TX; son Lee Gotcher of League City, TX; grandsons Dustin Pruett of London, England and Zach DeVillier, U.S. Navy; and granddaughter Amber Pruett Cochran and her husband Gabe Cothran of Heber Spring, AR.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 2 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
