Raymond H. Kopecky, 93, passed from this life on September 10, 2015. He was born on October 15, 1921 in Beasley, Texas to Henry and Mary Kopecky; he had one brother, Roy, and one sister, Henrietta, who have all preceded him in death. In June 2015, Raymond lost his wife of 69 years, Norma Jean, and eight years ago he lost a great-grandson, Malachi Schaefer. Raymond and Norma Jean lived in the same residence in Pasadena for 56 years and had four children. He is survived by Eileen Dodds and husband John of Datil, New Mexico; Ray Kopecky, Jr., Marcy Schaefer and husband Don, and Julie Kopecky all of Houston. He has five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Raymond served in the U.S. Air Force for 3.5 years during WWII as a bombardier/radar observer on a B-24 bomber and he flew 15 combat missions over Germany before the war ended in Europe. He graduated from Rice Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for Armco Steel for 34 years. He was a professional engineer. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. The Celebration of Raymond’s Life will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home with interment to immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
