Joshua was baptized at an early age at First Home Mission Baptist Church in St. Martinsville, LA.
He was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School. He was a soloist who shared his favorite song “I come to the Garden Alone” with everyone he had the opportunity.
Joshua graduated from Adam Carlson High School in St. Martinville in 1970 and he was the class valedictorian and also played football. He went on to attend and graduate from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA where he graduated with honors and was a member of Phi Beta Sigma.
After graduation Joshua started his adventure in adulthood and moved to Houston, TX. He was employed by Johnson Space Center and continued his spiritual journey and became a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Throughout his professional career he worked for HLP, Educator at CDC, Consultant and later returned to Johnson Space Center. There was always a love for God in his life and he always had a church home. He was a member of Abundant Love and served as an usher until his health failed.
Joshua was a child of God who had the characteristics of by being humble, loving, gentle, unselfish and peaceful. He never complained, gave you anything and everything without expecting anything in return.
Joshua’s hobby was gardening. He could grow anything. He had grass which felt like cushion under your feet and was known for his famous green house.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emma Alexander Batiste and Clifton Batiste Sr.
Joshua has eight siblings; 4 brothers: Clifton, Jr. (Linda) of Port Arthur, TX, Timothy of Port Arthur, TX, Patrick (Erin) of Abbeville, LA and Melvin, Lafayette, LA and 4 sisters: Verna, Broussard, LA, Patsy Rogers (Eugene) Pearland, Texas, Margret Darby (Leroy) Youngsville, LA and Donna Grear, Pearland, TX. He also has 8 nieces and nephews; Krystal, Tyler (TJ), Candace, Malcom, Jailsa, Mist, Braelee, Brylee and his special nephew Clifton along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Joshua will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
