Our dear mother, Janet Kay Thornton, 66, of Onalaska, Texas, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 15, 2023. She was born in Pasadena, Texas, on September 3, 1957, to two wonderful parents, Calvin and Christine Gregory.
Janet was a wonderful mother, nana, sister, aunt, companion, and friend! Although she had many titles, she took the most pride in being a Nana! Her family was her pride and joy! Janet spent the majority of her life in Pasadena, Texas. She worked at Warren Alloy for several years before retiring to the hill country and living on the lake. She enjoyed playing darts, where she met several lifelong friends. Her favorite years were spent taking her grandchildren on trips and making memories with those who held a special place in her heart. She had a heart of gold and would do anything to help anyone around her! Janet never met a stranger and she was guaranteed to make you laugh! She loved to kickback and have a good time, sitting outside on her patio, and being a momma to her chickens and her dog, Mocha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Thornton; her parents Calvin and Christine Gregory; and her two sisters Beverly Pentecost and Sharon Stacks.
She was survived by her son Bryan Cochran and wife Koti; her daughter Jennifer Wright and husband Cory; Stepsons Shawn Thornton and wife Kerry, Kenneth Thornton and wife Kristina, John Thornton, and William Thornton; her baby sister Carol Gilmer; partner Robert Neels; Grandsons Christopher, Cameron, Zachary, Noah, Tyler, and Matthew; Granddaughters Kara, Laney, Shawna, Mackenzie, Malia, and Savannah; numerous nieces, nephews, and family members she loved dearly; and many friends who she considered family.
