Ernestina "Tina" Cano passed away in Houston, Texas on December 9, 2024 at the age of 91. She was born in Los Pinos, Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico on July 25, 1933 to Miguel Chaides and Castula Garcia Chaides.
She loved to cook for family and friends, even watching them eat to see their reactions. In recent years, she learned technology on her smartphone, from talking to family in Mexico and all over the US to watching YouTube videos of prayers and mass services.
Tina preceded in death by her loving husband, Luis Cano. Luis and Ernestina met each other when they were 9 years old (81 years ago) and were married for 62 years. They moved to Galveston County in 1985. Although they never had any children, they were blessed with many nieces and nephews that they considered their own. Tina was a hardworking, generous person and loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed.
The family is at peace now knowing she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and other family members who passed before, especially her husband, Luis. They are together forever!
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home and a graveside service will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at 9:00 am at Forest Park East Cemetery.
