Ernest Lester

Ernest Allie Lester, born November 21,1927, passed away February 29, 2012. Ernest was born in Houston, Texas to Allen and Victorine Lester. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Reba, their sons Morgan and Jeffrey, and his daughters-in-law Michelle and Patty. He is also survived by his brothers Bob and Victor and sisters Margaret Ann and Mary Jo, and grandchildren Lauren, Lindsey and Damara. Ernest served in the US Navy until 1946 and upon his discharge began his career as an electrician. This culminated in him becoming manager of the Electrical Division for the City of Houston with 40 plus years of service.

He was a member and also served as president of the IBEW Local 66 for several years.

Ernest was not only a skilled electrician but also had a knack for woodworking , mechanical work, and building CB and HAM type radios. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing with his granddaughters after his retirement from the City in 1987.

He was a longtime member of the Southside Church of Christ , had many friends there and was known for his sense of humor. He enjoyed being a part of the construction oversite team for the current building used by Southside.

He will be missed by friends and family.

Services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012 at Forest Park East , 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster ,Texas 77598.

Visitation will be at 11:30 am with the memorial service following immediately at 12:30.
