Curtis D. Nelson was born in Orange, Texas, on June 11, 1950, to John T. Nelson and Adell J. Nelson. He was the fourth child born to their union. Curtis was baptized at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Orange, Texas, where he accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. Curtis attended West Orange Stark High School and continued his education in Houston, Texas at Texas Southern University. Curtis married and shared a life of forty-two years with his wife Pauline Pannell Nelson. To their union was born three children, two daughters and one son. He was full of life, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and great friend. Curtis enjoyed a long career in automotive management and commercial sales.
Curtis is preceded in death by his father John T. Nelson and his mother Adell J. Nelson. Curtis is survived by his wife, Pauline Nelson, two daughters and one son: Dr. Mayen S. Nelson, Clarice Nelson-Aranda (Jimmy) and Curtis D. Nelson, II; three grandchildren and one on the way: Isaias, Myka and Mia Aranda; three sisters: Patricia Woods (Eugene), Peggy Lazenby (Walter Charles), ZenaMae Thibodeaux (Paul); two brothers: John Nelson (Emma) and James Nelson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
