Caitlyn Parrish Hicks made her entrance into the world on July 26, 1996. Even at an early age, it was evident that Caitlyn was strong-willed and possessed a free spirit. This combination made being around Caitlyn an adventure and a joy. Her love of life was contagious, and people of all ages loved being around her.
Caitlyn graduated from Clear Springs School in 2015. But it was in an art class while attending Clear Springs High School that her life would be forever changed. There, she met and fell in love with Matthew Wade Hicks. They would eventually find themselves exchanging vows before a Justice of the Peace and continuing to write an amazing love story.
Their love was so strong that they wanted to share it with another soul. On April 30, 2022, Matt and Caitlyn welcomed a beautiful baby girl that they would name Amber. And the Hicks family was complete.
It is impossible to sum up a life like Caitlyn’s in a limited space. We could tell you about her amazing artistic ability and how much she was loved by the children in her Big Blue Marble Academy class. We could talk about her love of fishing, camping, and all things outdoors. But she was so much more than any of those things. She was a person who never met a stranger, treated everyone with dignity and respect, and had a heart as big as Texas.
Caitlyn will be missed by those fortunate to be part of her life. But we find peace knowing that she is resting in the arms of God. She is survived by her husband, Matt, and the apple of her eye, Amber. She is also survived by her dad and hero, Brian, and his wife, Stephanie, nana and pawpaw Carol and Bruce Hicks, and father-in-law Neka, along with a host of family members and others who loved her and will never forget her smile, spirit, and infectious love for life.
A visitation for Caitlyn will be held Monday, October 2, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Hicks family.
