Rich had just recovered from a broken hip and was working hard to resume his favorite activity-teaching.
Rich is survived by his life partner Carol Harris; 2 sisters Carol (Dave) Stringer; Sue (Dennis) Strickland; nieces Renee (Tony) Amato, Sister Margarite Marie, Angela (Jake) Young and nephew Devin Strickland; and many loving friends.
In 2002 Rich was High School Teacher of the Year for Metro High School and St. Louis Public Schools.
Many students remained his friend into adulthood. He could hardly go out without some young adult calling out “Hey Mr. Nolte” and proceed to catch him up with their life. (Many people remember his love of rubber ducks).
Rich was a founding member of Bridge-Kirkwood. He loved music and played many instruments. He was active in the Recorder Society. Rich sang bass/baritone in the St. Louis Symphony Chorus and several other choruses in the past 25 years.
Rich was a polio survivor who never let the effects slow him down. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
