A native and lifelong resident of Maggie Valley, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Fannie Carver Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by one sister and three brothers. Frank spent two years in the Army in Germany. He was employed 35 years at Dayco International. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years, Arlene Milner Carpenter. She was the love of his life. Frank is also survived by one son, Neil Carpenter and his wife Cindy; two grandchildren Chelsea Carpenter and Chase Carpenter and his wife Emily; three brothers Don Carpenter (Debbie), Harry Carpenter (Betty), Jr. Carpenter (Lynn) all of Maggie Valley and many nieces and nephews.
Frank’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Frank was a master storyteller with a vivid memory. He told many bear hunting and fishing stories with great detail. He was loved by all who met him. He was truly a one of a kind individual, a good man, husband, father and friend. In his younger years, Frank enjoyed bear hunting and fishing at his boathouse at Fontana Lake.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 6, in the tent at Dellwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerry Nelson, the Reverend Millard Grant, and the Reverend Dr. Bobby Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dellwood Baptist Church Youth Group, 115 Hall Drive Waynesville, NC 28785.
